Gentlemen:

This refers to previous correspondence and conferences about the servicing of the Naval Depot at Hastings, Nebraska, by road crews.

Our latest conference to discuss this subject was held on May 19, 1969, with the following in attendance:

Representing Union Pacific Railroad Company:

J. H. Kenny, Assistant to Vice President – Labor Relations
P. A. Jordan, Supervisor of Wage Schedules
A. L. Young, Supervisor of Wage Schedules

Representing the Organizations:

S. G. Becker, General Chairman, B of LE
R. J. Green, General Chairman, UTU (S)
W. R. Sippel, General Chairman, UTU (C)
J. R. Dennis, Secretary, UTU (T)

During our conference it was agreed that there is no agreement basis for any additional allowances to crews servicing this plant. That is, there is no rule or special agreement that would give road crews additional time or miles simply for serving the Naval Depot. It was your position, however, that road crews are required to go varying distances within this plant, and you requested some sort of allowance to such crews on an equity basis.

It was agreed in conference that solely on an equity basis, with the distinct understanding that an additional allowance is not required under the rules agreement, road crews required to service this plant will be allowed the additional miles traveled as an arbitrary, independent of the road trip, with such additional miles not to be added to the road trip miles in computing overtime. It was also agreed in conference that the distances involved will be determined by actual measurement.

This agreement is effective June 1, 1969, and will continue in effect until terminated by service of a ten-day written notice by any party to the agreement upon any other party to the agreement.

Yours truly,

ACCEPTED:

General Chairman, B of LE
General Chairman, UTU (E)
General Chairman, UTU (C)
General Chairman, UTU (T)
