TWO AND THREE WEEK VACATIONS-

BRAKEMEN—YARDMEN—TRAIN BAGGAGEMEN

It is agreed:

  1. Brakemen, yardmen and train baggagemen qualified to receive two or three weeks vacation under the agreement effective January 1, 1954, who are working at points where extra boards are maintained, may request permission to take one week or two consecutive weeks of their vacation in advance of the scheduled vacation period under the same conditions that such employes are permitted to change their vacations in accordance with the provisions of agreements quoted as follows:

Brakemen — Section 6 of agreement, “Vacation Schedules”, dated February 10, 1954:

“Vacations as selected in accordance with the above will be shown on the vacation schedule separately for conductors and brakemen for each seniority roster, and a copy furnished the respective local chairmen. Dates selected will not be subject to change thereafter except that, if it is found there is a surplus of men in any seniority district, employees desiring vacation at that time may be relieved on request of the individual and approval of the officer in charge, giving preference to senior men, and the assigned vacation period cancelled.”

Yardmen—Section 5 of agreement, “Vacation Schedules,” dated December 30, 1953:

“Vacations as selected in accordance with the above will be shown on a vacation schedule for yardmen for each division seniority district, and a copy furnished to the local chairmen. Dates selected will not be subject to change thereafter except that, if it is found there is a surplus of men in any seniority district, employees desiring vacations at that time may be relieved on request of the individual and approval of the officer in charge, giving preference to senior men, and the assigned vacation period cancelled.”

Train Baggagemen—Section 5 of agreement, “Vacation Schedules—Train Baggagemen,” dated January 8, 1954:

“Vacations as selected in accordance with the above will be shown on the vacation schedule, and a copy furnished to the local chairman. Dates selected will not be subject to change thereafter, except that if it is found there is a surplus of men in any seniority district, employees desiring vacations at that time may be relieved on request of the individual and approval of the officer in charge, giving preference to senior men, and the assigned vacation period cancelled.”

  1. The request showing the advance period selected shall be made in writing by the individual brakeman, yardman or train baggageman who may be relieved at that time if there is a surplus of men available at the point where an extra board is maintained, upon approval of the officer in charge, giving preference to senior men who have made requests.
  2. Brakemen, yardmen and train baggagemen who are permitted to advance one or two consecutive weeks of their vacation will submit separate time returns for the advanced portion and the regularly scheduled portion, and payroll allowances will be made accordingly.
  3. It is understood this agreement applies only at points where extra boards are maintained, and that no time claims will be recognized because of the splitting of vacations.
  4. This agreement is effective January 1, 1957 and will automatically terminate ten days after either party serves written notice upon the other of desire to terminate it.

Dated at Omaha, Nebraska, this 19th day of December, 1956.
