ITEM ‑ 58(a)

 

ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMBINATION SWITCH AND

ROAD SERVICE OPERATING OUT OF KANSAS CITY

 

Section (j) of Rule 24 of the agreements be­tween the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, and Union Pacific Railroad Company, Eastern Dis­trict, effective May 1, 1954, reads:

 

"Rule 24. Combination Switch and Road Service. (j) Combination switch and road runs will not be assigned under the Provisions of this rule out of district terminals other than Valley, Beatrice, Gering and Sterling, except by agreement."

 

Section (h) of Rule 58 of the agreement be­tween the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Union Pacific Railroad Company, Eastern District, effective November l, 1957, reads:

 

"Rule 58. Combination Switch and Road Service. (h) Combination switch and road runs will not be assigned under the provisions of this agreement out of district terminals other than Beatrice, Gering and Sterling, exe cept by agreement."

 

IT IS AGREED:

 

l. Consistent with the above quoted sections, a combination switch and road assignment may be established out of Kansas City and will operate in accordance with Rule 24 of the Schedules with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Brother­hood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, and Rule 58 of the Schedule with the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen and Brotherhood Of Rail­road Trainmen.

 

2. This assignment will not be required to perform any switching within the recognized switch­ing limits, except as provided by Rules l9 (c) and 32(c) of the enginemen's and trainmen's agreements, respectively, in the picking up and setting out of cars at Kansas City.

 

3. In the event the crew is required to per­form switching within the recognized switching limits, other than as stated above, they will be compensated in accordance with Rules l9(K) and 32(K) of the enginemen's and trainmen's agreements, respectively.

 

4. This agreement provides for the estab­lishment of one (l) combination switch and road assignment, and no additional combination switch and road assignment will be established, except by agreement.

 

This agreement will automatically terminate ten days after any of the parties serves written notice upon the others of desire to terminate it.
