FREIGHT VACANCIES OF 30 DAYS OR MORE

 

IT IS AGREED:

 

The following provisions shall apply to vacancies other than vacation vacancies in all assigned or unassigned freight service created by the absence of the regular conductor or brakeman. This agreement supersedes agreements dated April 19, 1971 with the UTU(C) and May 24, 1971 with the UTU(T).

 

1. When a position in assigned or unassigned freight service has been vacant for 30 days, it shall be assigned as a permanent vacancy pending return of the regular conductor or brakeman.

 

2. The conductor or brakeman creating the vacancy shall on his return to service place where his seniority permits in pool freight service, to a position in assigned service bulletined in his absence, or in accordance with existing schedule rules.

 

3. The conductor or brakeman displaced by (2) above shall place himself according to schedule rules.

 

4. This agreement shall be effective July 1, 1982 and will terminate ten (10) days after service of written notice by either party.
